Farm Marketing With Social Media: Why You Cannot Put It Off Any Longer

The world of Social Media can be daunting to those not as geeky as I am. While you don't have to spend every second checking your Facebook page, and updating your status every time you sneeze (or happen to think you're clever), it is a very smart business move to have at least some presence on Social Media Networks. After all, that's where your customers are. I am creating a series of instructional videos and blog posts to help you walk through the various networks. We're going to cut it down to the two most important networks to be on, Facebook and Twitter, and how the other social networks can benefit you if you choose to utilize them.

First I will walk you through why you need to be on social networks, then I will post videos about each network in turn. I hope you enjoy them, and if you have any questions please feel free to leave feedback in the comments section.

-- Social media is the most popular activity online today. Surpassing both e-mail and internet searches. With 98% of the internet users in the United States spending at least some time on social networks, it is definitely a good avenue to advertise your farm.

Social networks are getting bigger by the day. If you broke the networks and countries down by population, you'd be amazed by what you found.

Countries by population:

  • China: 1,350,000,000
  • India: 1,200,000,000
  • Facebook: 900,ooo,000
  • Twitter: 555,000,000
  • United States: 300,000,000

The best news is that social media networks are free and easy to use. You don't have to be daunted by which ones to use. Start with Facebook, and grow out from there. I will be posting videos to help you get started, and to make sure you do not get bogged down. You have to go where the market is, and a lot of the market is online.

Since I feel the most important network to start with is Facebook, that is where the next video will start.
